Russell Garrett, founder of Surf in Barbados, has competed and instructed in surfing, windsurfing, and water skiing for decades. He coached and managed the Barbados ISA Junior Team in Japan (2017) and continues to train competitive surfers for events including the ISA World Surfing Games, WSL Junior Pro, and BDS Surfer of the Year competitions.

Matthew Kydd, a lifelong competitive surfer, is a 2x Barbados National Surf Champion, winner of multiple Junior and Open Men’s SOTY titles, and widely regarded as one of the island’s best free surfers.

Together, they bring over 40 years of combined surf experience, supported by the next generation of talent — Axe Garrett and Zak Taoum — ensuring our surf instruction remains current, energetic, and future-focused.
